A quick and easy fall dessert featuring crisp apple slices drizzled with warm caramel, sprinkled with nuts, chocolate chips, cinnamon, and sea salt for a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith), thinly sliced
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts), toasted
  • ¼ cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp white chocolate drizzle (optional), melted
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Wash and thinly slice 3 to 4 medium apples into uniform pieces about ¼ inch thick.
  2. Toss the apple slices in 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice to prevent browning.
  3. Warm 1 cup of caramel sauce in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until warm and pourable. Alternatively, warm gently on stovetop over low heat, stirring frequently.
  4. Toast ½ cup of chopped pecans or walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes until fragrant and slightly golden. Remove promptly to avoid burning.
  5. Arrange the lemon-coated apple slices on a large serving platter in a single layer, overlapping slightly to mimic nachos.
  6. Pour the warm caramel sauce evenly over the apple slices.
  7. Sprinkle the toasted nuts and mini chocolate chips evenly over the caramel-drizzled apples.
  8. If using, melt 2 tablespoons of white chocolate gently and drizzle over the top.
  9. Lightly dust ½ teaspoon cinnamon across the top and sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  10. Serve immediately while the caramel is still warm and melty.

Notes

If caramel thickens, reheat briefly to soften before drizzling. Keep apple slices uniform in thickness for even texture. Serve immediately for best texture; leftovers can be refrigerated up to 2 days but apples may soften and caramel harden. Nut-free option: substitute nuts with toasted pumpkin or sunflower seeds. Vegan option: use dairy-free caramel and chocolate chips.
