Refreshing Sonic Cherry Limeade Recipe - featured image

A quick and easy homemade cherry limeade that balances tart lime juice, sweet cherry syrup, and bubbly sparkling water for a refreshing summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 medium fresh limes, juiced (about 3 tablespoons or 45 ml fresh lime juice)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) maraschino cherry syrup
  • Maraschino cherries for garnish (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) simple syrup (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold sparkling water or club soda
  • Ice cubes as needed

Instructions

  1. Roll the limes on your countertop to soften them, then cut in half and juice until you have about 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of fresh lime juice.
  2. In a mixing glass or pitcher, combine the fresh lime juice, 1/4 cup (60 ml) maraschino cherry syrup, and 1/4 cup (60 ml) simple syrup. Stir gently until blended.
  3. Fill your serving glass about halfway with ice cubes.
  4. Pour the lime-cherry syrup blend over the ice, filling the glass about halfway.
  5. Slowly top off the glass with 1 cup (240 ml) of cold sparkling water or club soda, pouring slowly to keep the fizz lively.
  6. Garnish with a couple of maraschino cherries and a thin slice of lime on the rim if desired. Stir gently and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Add sparkling water last and stir gently to preserve fizz. Adjust sweetness by adding more simple syrup or lime juice to taste. Store lime and cherry syrup mixture separately from sparkling water for up to 3 days in the fridge.
