A light, fresh, and bubbly summer cocktail featuring juicy watermelon, ripe strawberries, fresh mint, and crisp Prosecco. Perfect for relaxing afternoons and summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups watermelon, cubed and seedless
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves, gently bruised
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) Prosecco, chilled
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec), optional
  • Juice of 1 fresh lime
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes, as needed

Instructions

  1. Rinse and hull about 1 cup of strawberries, then slice them thinly.
  2. Cube 2 cups of seedless watermelon into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Gently bruise a handful of fresh mint leaves to release their oils without pulverizing.
  4. In a large pitcher, combine the sliced strawberries, watermelon cubes, and bruised mint leaves.
  5. Add 1/4 cup orange liqueur (if using), juice from 1 lime, and 2 tablespoons simple syrup. Stir gently to combine.
  6. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  7. Just before serving, slowly pour in 1 bottle (750 ml) of chilled Prosecco and stir gently.
  8. Add ice cubes to keep the sangria chilled without diluting the flavors.
  9. Pour into glasses, ensuring each serving has some fruit and mint. Garnish with a fresh strawberry or mint sprig if desired.

Notes

Let the fruit sit with lime juice and liqueur before adding Prosecco to unlock flavors. Bruise mint gently to avoid bitterness. Add ice just before serving to prevent dilution. Pour Prosecco slowly to maintain bubbles. Adjust sweetness with simple syrup to taste.
