This warm, spiced apple cider margarita is made in the slow cooker, making it perfect for fall gatherings. It’s a set-it-and-forget-it cocktail that lets you enjoy your own party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 1 ½ cups silver tequila
  • ¾ cup orange liqueur (triple sec or Cointreau)
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • 23 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 45 whole cloves
  • Apple slices and cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the base ingredients: Pour the apple cider, silver tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, and orange juice into your slow cooker. Stir gently to combine.
  2. Add the sweetener and spices: Drizzle in the maple syrup or honey. Add the ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and whole cloves. Stir again to dissolve the sweetener and distribute the spices.
  3. Set the slow cooker: Cover and set to LOW heat for 2-3 hours or HIGH heat for 1-1.5 hours. Do not let it boil.
  4. Taste and adjust: After about an hour, taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired.
  5. Remove the cloves: Before serving, use a slotted spoon to remove the whole cloves. Alternatively, tie them in cheesecloth for easy removal.
  6. Serve warm: Ladle into heatproof mugs or glasses. Garnish with an apple slice and a cinnamon stick if desired.

Notes

Keep the slow cooker on WARM setting after initial heating to maintain temperature without overcooking. If the mixture separates, stir before serving. For a non-alcoholic version, omit tequila and orange liqueur and replace with additional apple cider and sparkling water or ginger ale.
