  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec)
  • 3 oz unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 lime wedge
  • Fresh or frozen cranberries (for garnish)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (for garnish)
  • Optional: fresh rosemary sprig (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rim: On a small shallow plate, mix the 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon until well combined. Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of your glass. Dip the rim into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, rotating gently to coat evenly. Tap off any excess. Set the glass aside.
  2. Fill the glass with ice: Add a handful of ice cubes to your prepared glass.
  3. Mix the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker or mason jar, combine 2 oz silver tequila, 1 oz orange liqueur, 3 oz unsweetened cranberry juice, 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice, and 1/2 oz simple syrup. Add a handful of ice cubes. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
  4. Strain and pour: If you used a shaker, strain the mixture into your prepared glass over the ice. If you stirred it, use a slotted spoon to remove the ice cubes from the mixing glass and pour the liquid over fresh ice in your serving glass.
  5. Garnish: Add a few fresh or frozen cranberries to the glass. Insert a cinnamon stick for stirring. If desired, add a sprig of fresh rosemary.
  6. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use a good-quality silver tequila and unsweetened 100% cranberry juice. Chill the glass in the freezer for 10 minutes before making the drink to keep it colder longer. If making a batch for a party, mix everything except the ice in a pitcher and refrigerate. Adjust simple syrup to taste.
