A quick and easy homemade creamy iced espresso drink made with brown sugar and oat milk, shaken to create a frothy, café-style beverage that’s dairy-free and naturally sweet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots (about 60 ml or 2 fl oz) freshly brewed espresso
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) chilled oat milk
  • 1 cup (240 ml) ice cubes
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots (about 60 ml or 2 fl oz) of espresso using your preferred method and allow to cool slightly for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Pour the brown sugar into a cocktail shaker or mason jar. Add the warm espresso on top.
  3. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds to dissolve the sugar and create froth.
  4. Open the shaker and add 1/2 cup (120 ml) chilled oat milk and about 1 cup (240 ml) ice cubes.
  5. Seal the shaker tightly and shake again for 15-20 seconds to chill and aerate the mixture.
  6. Strain the shaken espresso over a glass filled with ice. Optionally, sprinkle cinnamon or add vanilla extract during the second shake.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Use freshly brewed espresso for best flavor. Shake vigorously to create froth and dissolve sugar fully. Use barista-style oat milk for creamier texture. Adjust brown sugar to taste. Store espresso and sugar mixture in fridge up to 24 hours before adding milk and ice. Avoid shaking in glass cups to prevent breakage.
