A creamy, spicy, and cheesy buffalo chicken dip with a festive spiderweb design made from sour cream. Ready in 30 minutes, it’s the perfect showstopper for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • ½ cup buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 cup cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken recommended)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp cheddar preferred)
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (low-moisture)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ½ cup sour cream (for spiderweb design)
  • 1 small piping bag or zip-top bag
  • 1 toothpick

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Soften cream cheese if needed (microwave 10-15 seconds).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt, and buffalo wing sauce. Stir until smooth.
  3. Fold in shredded chicken, shredded cheddar (reserve ¼ cup for topping), mozzarella, and green onions. Mix until evenly distributed.
  4. Transfer mixture to a greased 9-inch pie dish or small baking dish. Spread into an even layer. Sprinkle reserved cheddar on top.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until hot and bubbly around the edges and cheese is melted and golden.
  6. While dip bakes, prepare spiderweb design: spoon sour cream into piping bag or zip-top bag and snip off a tiny corner (about ⅛ inch).
  7. Remove dip from oven and let cool 2-3 minutes. Pipe a small circle of sour cream in the center, then larger concentric circles spaced 1-2 inches apart.
  8. Using a toothpick, drag from the center circle outward to the edge. Wipe toothpick clean, then drag from edge back toward center, slightly offset. Repeat all around to create 8-12 spokes, forming a spiderweb pattern.
  9. Let dip rest for 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm with tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, or crusty bread.

Notes

Don’t overbake; the dip continues to cook after removal. Let cream cheese soften properly to avoid lumps. Use full-fat ingredients for best texture. For a cleaner web, chill sour cream for 10 minutes before piping. The dip can be assembled a day ahead (without sour cream web) and refrigerated; bake as directed and add web fresh.
