A quick and addictive Halloween trail mix combining salty pretzels, roasted peanuts, buttery popcorn, candy corn, candy pumpkins, and chocolate candies. Ready in 10 minutes and perfect for parties, movie nights, or any Halloween gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups popped popcorn (plain or lightly salted)
  • 2 cups mini pretzels (twists or sticks)
  • 1 cup roasted salted peanuts
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1 cup candy pumpkins (autumn mix or similar)
  • 1 cup chocolate candies (M&M’s or similar, Halloween colors)
  • 1 cup dried cranberries or raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your popcorn (if needed): Pop about 1/4 cup of kernels to get 3 cups of popped corn. Spread on a baking sheet to cool completely. If using microwave popcorn, let it cool for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Check your pretzels: Remove any broken pieces. If using large pretzel twists, break them into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Combine the base ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the cooled popcorn, mini pretzels, and roasted salted peanuts. Toss gently to distribute.
  4. Add the sweet elements: Sprinkle candy corn, candy pumpkins, and Halloween-colored M&M’s over the top. If using dried cranberries, add them now. Do not stir yet.
  5. Gently fold everything together: Using your hands or a large wooden spoon, gently fold the mixture from the bottom up until every handful has a mix of all ingredients. Fold about 8-10 times.
  6. Taste and adjust: Grab a small handful and taste. If it needs more salt, add an extra 1/4 cup of peanuts or a pinch of flaky sea salt. If it needs more sweetness, add another 1/4 cup of candy corn or M&M’s.
  7. Transfer to serving bowl or storage container: Once happy with the balance, transfer to a serving bowl or an airtight container.
  8. Let it rest (optional but recommended): Let the mix sit for about 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients. If making ahead, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. In humid weather, add candy corn just before serving to prevent stickiness. The mix tastes even better the next day as flavors meld.
