Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Position the rack in the middle of the oven.
  2. Line your sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil. If using foil, lightly spray with cooking spray.
  3. Prepare the honey garlic butter sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Add the 1/3 cup honey, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, and the 5 minced garlic cloves. Whisk until smooth and well combined. Simmer gently for about 2 minutes until fragrant and slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in optional red pepper flakes. Set aside to cool slightly.
  4. Prep the vegetables: Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Place in a mixing bowl, drizzle with 2 tablespoons olive oil, and season with salt and black pepper. Toss well to coat. Spread the broccoli evenly on one half of the prepared sheet pan, leaving room for the salmon.
  5. Season the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them on the other half of the sheet pan, skin-side down if they have skin. Season both sides lightly with salt and black pepper.
  6. Apply the sauce: Using a basting brush or spoon, generously brush the honey garlic butter sauce over the top of each salmon fillet. Reserve about a quarter of the sauce for later. Drizzle a little of the remaining sauce over the broccoli.
  7. Roast the salmon and vegetables: Place the sheet pan in the preheated oven and roast for 12-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the salmon. The salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). The broccoli should be tender and lightly charred.
  8. Apply the reserved sauce: When the salmon is about 2 minutes from being done, brush on the reserved sauce for an extra glossy, flavorful finish.
  9. Broil for extra caramelization (optional): Switch the oven to broil for the last 1-2 minutes of cooking, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  10. Rest and serve: Remove the sheet pan from the oven and let it rest for 2-3 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Pat the salmon dry for better browning. Use room temperature ingredients for even cooking. Don’t overcrowd the pan to ensure proper roasting. Check for doneness early as salmon continues to cook after removal from oven. For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with coconut oil or plant-based butter. For a low-carb option, replace honey with a sugar-free alternative.
