Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 9 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Pretzel sticks
  • 3 cups Cheese crackers (e.g., Goldfish or Cheez-Its)
  • 2 cups Roasted, salted peanuts
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) Unsalted butter
  • 1 (1-ounce) packet Ranch seasoning mix
  • 2 teaspoons Cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Line two large rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 9 cups Corn Chex, 9 cups Rice Chex, 3 cups pretzel sticks, 3 cups cheese crackers, and 2 cups roasted salted peanuts. Toss gently to distribute.
  3. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 1 cup unsalted butter. Remove from heat and whisk in 1 packet ranch seasoning, 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper until smooth.
  4. Slowly drizzle the warm butter mixture over the dry ingredients. Toss gently with a spatula or your hands (with gloves) until every piece is evenly coated.
  5. Divide the coated mixture evenly between the two prepared baking sheets, spreading it into a single, even layer.
  6. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes with a spatula to ensure even toasting.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the Chex mix cool completely on the baking sheets (at least 30 minutes to 1 hour).
  8. Once cool, break up any large clusters and transfer to a serving bowl.

Notes

For a milder version, reduce or omit the cayenne pepper. For extra crunch, add bagel chips or mini garlic croutons. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. To revive crunch, reheat in a 300°F oven for 5-7 minutes and cool completely.
