This Easy Warm Bacon Cheeseburger Dip is a quick and indulgent game day appetizer that tastes just like a bacon cheeseburger. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s creamy, savory, and packed with smoky bacon, seasoned beef, and melted cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 works best)
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped (thick-cut preferred)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp cheddar preferred)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)
  • Optional: 1/4 cup diced pickles or relish
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon ketchup

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon: Place the chopped bacon in a cold skillet. Turn the heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally, until crispy—about 6-8 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate. Leave about 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the pan for flavor.
  2. Brown the beef: Add the ground beef to the same skillet with the reserved bacon grease. Cook over medium-high heat, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through—about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if needed, but leaving a little adds flavor. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and cook for another minute.
  3. Create the creamy base: In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. You can also do this right in the skillet after the beef is cooked—just lower the heat to low and stir until combined. The key is to let the cream cheese soften completely so it melts evenly.
  4. Combine everything: Add the cream cheese mixture to the skillet with the beef. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and half of the cooked bacon. Keep stirring until the cheese is fully melted and the dip is smooth and creamy—about 2-3 minutes. If you’re using pickles or ketchup, add them now and stir well.
  5. Finish and garnish: Transfer the dip to a serving dish or leave it in the skillet if it’s oven-safe. Top with the remaining bacon and chopped green onions. Serve immediately while warm and gooey.

Notes

For best texture, use full-fat cream cheese and shred your own cheddar from a block. The dip will thicken as it cools, so serve immediately. If making ahead, reheat gently with a splash of milk to restore creaminess. Not recommended for freezing.
