These festive red white and blue jello shot cups are a quick, easy, and crowd-pleasing patriotic party treat with vibrant layers and a balanced boozy kick.

Ingredients

  • Red Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) strawberry or cherry flavored gelatin
  • Red Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • Red Layer: 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka (use more or less to taste)
  • White Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin
  • White Layer: 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water
  • White Layer: 1 can (14 oz / 396 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • White Layer: 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka (can substitute with coconut rum)
  • Blue Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue raspberry flavored gelatin
  • Blue Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • Blue Layer: 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a heatproof bowl, dissolve the 3 oz package of red gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir well until fully dissolved (about 2 minutes). Let it cool to room temperature, then stir in 1/2 cup vodka. Pour about 1 tablespoon of the mixture into each small cup. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes or until firm but still slightly tacky to the touch.
  2. Make the White Layer: Sprinkle 1 package unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water. Let it bloom for 5 minutes. In a separate saucepan, gently warm 1 can sweetened condensed milk over low heat—do not boil. Add the bloomed gelatin and stir until completely dissolved. Remove from heat and mix in 1/2 cup vodka. Let this mixture cool to room temperature.
  3. Layer the White over Red: Carefully spoon or pour about 1 tablespoon of the white mixture over the set red layer. Chill again for 30-40 minutes until firm but tacky.
  4. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve 3 oz blue raspberry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir well, cool to room temperature, then add 1/2 cup vodka. Pour gently over the white layer to avoid mixing colors.
  5. Chill to Set: Refrigerate the cups for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, until fully set and firm to the touch.
  6. Serving: Serve chilled straight from the fridge. Garnish with a small fresh blueberry or a mini American flag toothpick if desired.

Notes

Cool each gelatin mixture completely before layering to prevent colors from bleeding. Chill each layer until firm but tacky before adding the next. Adjust vodka amount to taste but avoid too much to ensure gelatin sets properly. Non-alcoholic version possible by substituting vodka with sparkling water or fruit juice. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; do not freeze.
