A quick and easy croissant ring filled with creamy chive cream cheese and smoky salmon, perfect for brunch or parties. This flaky, savory ring combines buttery pastry with fresh herbs and smoked salmon for a delicious, crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent rolls or croissant dough
  • 8 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 6 oz smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest, finely grated (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, chopped chives, lemon zest, fresh dill (if using), and black pepper. Mix until smooth.
  3. Unroll the crescent dough onto a work surface, pressing perforations to seal into a single sheet. Slice the dough into 1-inch wide strips.
  4. Arrange the dough strips in a circle on the parchment paper, overlapping edges slightly to form a ring with an open center.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough ring, leaving a 1/2 inch border on the outer edge uncovered.
  6. Layer the smoked salmon slices evenly on top of the cream cheese.
  7. Fold the edges of the dough strips over the filling, tucking ends underneath to seal the ring.
  8. Brush the dough ring with the beaten egg to create a golden crust.
  9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the dough is puffed, flaky, and golden brown. Tent with foil if browning too quickly.
  10. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

If dough browns too quickly, tent with foil halfway through baking. For best results, use room temperature cream cheese. Chill assembled ring for 10 minutes before baking to help hold shape. Avoid overloading filling to prevent soggy dough. Gluten-free dough or puff pastry can be used as a substitute. Dairy-free cream cheese alternatives work but may alter texture.
