A simple, natural tonic combining raw garlic and honey to boost immunity, perfect for cold and flu season. This easy-to-make recipe offers a potent blend of spicy, sweet, and tangy flavors with optional immune-boosting ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 810 large cloves of fresh raw garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 1 cup (240 ml) raw, unfiltered honey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon raw apple cider vinegar (optional)
  • Juice of half a lemon

Instructions

  1. Peel and crush 8-10 large garlic cloves using the flat side of a chef’s knife or a garlic crusher to release allicin (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed garlic with 1 cup (240 ml) of raw, unfiltered honey and stir well (about 2 minutes).
  3. If using, add 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger, 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric, and 1 tablespoon raw apple cider vinegar. Stir until evenly combined (about 2 minutes).
  4. Add the juice of half a lemon and stir again (under 1 minute).
  5. Transfer the mixture to a clean glass jar with a tight-fitting lid. Seal and refrigerate for at least 24 hours to allow flavors to meld, stirring once or twice during this period.
  6. Take 1-2 tablespoons daily as a preventive tonic or up to 3 tablespoons when feeling under the weather. Can be taken straight or stirred into warm (not boiling) herbal tea.

Notes

Crush garlic fresh to maximize allicin content. Use raw, unfiltered honey for best enzyme and antioxidant benefits. Do not heat tonic above warm temperatures to preserve enzymes. Stir occasionally during infusion. Consume within 2-3 weeks. Adjust garlic amount for sensitivity. Can add cayenne pepper or cinnamon for variations.
