A fast and flavorful honey garlic glazed salmon paired with tender, crisp steamed broccoli. This recipe delivers a sticky, glossy glaze on perfectly seared salmon for a satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each), skin-on
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 large head broccoli, cut into florets
  • Optional garnish: sliced green onions or toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Pat dry 4 salmon fillets with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Season both sides lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Let rest for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons honey, 3 cloves minced garlic, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon rice vinegar until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Fill a medium pot with about 1 inch of water and bring to a boil. Place broccoli florets into a steaming basket or colander, cover, and steam for 4-5 minutes until bright green and just tender but still crisp. Remove from heat and keep covered.
  4. Heat 2 tablespoons olive or avocado oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering (about 2 minutes). Place salmon fillets skin-side down carefully into the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes without moving to get a crispy skin.
  5. Turn the salmon fillets over gently with a fish spatula or tongs. Immediately pour the honey garlic glaze over the salmon and let it bubble and thicken for 2-3 minutes, spooning the glaze over the fish as it cooks until sticky and well-coated.
  6. Check for doneness: salmon should be opaque and flaky but not dry. If needed, cook an additional 1-2 minutes on low heat, spooning glaze continuously.
  7. Serve the glazed salmon fillets alongside the steamed broccoli. Garnish with sliced green onions or toasted sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before cooking to ensure crispy skin and better glaze adhesion. Use medium-high heat but watch glaze carefully to prevent burning. If glaze thickens too much, add a teaspoon of water to loosen it. Steam broccoli just until tender-crisp to maintain vibrant color and texture. Optionally add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving for brightness.
