These Spooky Witch Finger Pretzel Rod Treats are salty, sweet, and just the right amount of gross. They’re quick and easy to make with simple ingredients, perfect for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag (about 12 ounces) pretzel rods
  • 1 bag (about 10 ounces) green candy melts
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds
  • 1 tube red decorating gel
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Workspace: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Have your pretzel rods, sliced almonds, and red gel ready to go.
  2. Melt the Candy Melts: Place the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each one, until melted (about 1.5 to 2 minutes total). If too thick, stir in a teaspoon of coconut oil until smooth.
  3. Dip the Pretzels: Holding a pretzel rod by one end, dip the other two-thirds into the melted green candy. Let any excess drip back into the bowl. Use a small spatula to help coat if needed.
  4. Place on the Sheet: Gently place the coated pretzel onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining pretzels, working in batches of 4-5 at a time.
  5. Add the Fingernails: While the coating is still wet, gently press a sliced almond onto the tip of each pretzel, pointed end outward. Press down just enough so it sticks.
  6. Create the Knuckle Lines: Use the back of a small knife or a toothpick to gently drag 2-3 lines across the wet coating about halfway down the coated portion to create knuckle wrinkles.
  7. Add the ‘Blood’: Squeeze a small dot of red decorating gel at the base of the almond ‘nail’ and let it drip down slightly. Add a few more drops randomly for a gory effect.
  8. Let Them Set: Allow the witch fingers to set completely at room temperature for 15-20 minutes, or refrigerate for 10 minutes if in a hurry.
  9. Serve and Enjoy: Once firm, carefully peel them off the parchment paper. Arrange on a platter like a severed hand for maximum spooky effect.

Notes

Don’t overheat the candy melts; work in small batches to keep coating wet; use a deep bowl for easier dipping; don’t overthink the knuckles—imperfections add to the creepy effect; let set completely before moving.
